What They Needed:
Starbright ABA, an ABA clinic in New York, wanted a modern, engaging website that better reflected their services, values, and team culture. Their existing site served its purpose but had outdated information and missed opportunities to connect with families and job seekers. Given that, they wanted:
- A fresh, modern design that felt professional and inviting.
- Refined copywriting to better engage parents and clearly communicate their services.
- Accurate service listings to ensure families had the right expectations from the start.
- Stronger team representation to showcase company culture and attract job candidates.
- A seamless way for job applicants to submit resumes directly through the site.
Beyond aesthetics, they needed to streamline their intake process while reducing barriers for families reaching out. Their existing process required families to submit a lot of personal information upfront—before knowing if they were a good fit, if space was available, or if their insurance was accepted. To make the process more approachable, they wanted:
- A HIPAA-compliant patient portal to securely collect necessary information.
- A way to send and receive digital consent forms easily.
- A smoother payment collection system for clients.
The goal? A website that not only looked great but made it easier for families to take the first step—while also helping job seekers see Starbright as the welcoming and professional place to work that it is.
The Challenge
Starbright ABA’s website was originally fully custom-coded in React, making updates tricky. Before diving into the redesign, we first had to locate the site, assess its setup, and rebuild it from the ground up with a more modern, scalable structure.
While the site provided key information, it needed a fresh, engaging design that better reflected Starbright’s services, team, and values. Some of the biggest challenges included:
- Branding & Design Refresh – The colors and fonts didn’t feel fully cohesive, and the overall look felt a bit dated. They wanted a modern, polished site that aligned with their professionalism.
- Service Clarity – Some offerings weren’t clearly defined, leading to confusion about who they served.
- Simplifying the Intake Process – Families had to provide a lot of information upfront, sometimes before even knowing if they were a good fit. This led to drop-offs and potential clients looking elsewhere.
- Showcasing Their Team & Careers – The site didn’t highlight Starbright’s amazing team or work culture, and there was no clear way to apply.
- HIPAA-Compliant Patient Portal Integration – No single platform fit all their needs, so we had to find the best option and customize the setup to streamline paperwork, signatures, and payments.

Approach & Strategy
To modernize Starbright ABA’s website and improve usability, we focused on branding, functionality, and user experience while working within a fully custom-coded React framework.

- Refined Branding & Messaging – We established a modern font pairing (Poppins & Figtree) and restructured service descriptions, ensuring clarity and relevance for parents.

- Stronger Team & Careers Page – Team member bios with personal highlights made staff more relatable, while a new careers section helped attract talent.
- HIPAA-Compliant Portal Integration – We evaluated multiple platforms and implemented SimplePractice, customizing its form feature for better consent documentation.
- Interactive & Functional Enhancements – We added subtle motion effects, hover animations, and expandable FAQs to improve engagement without overwhelming users. A custom pop-up system also allows staff to post updates without coding.
